TRANQUIL • LUMINOUS • ROOTED
Stories from the studio, reflections on process, and the art of the handmade.
Sometimes creativity begins with paper and thread. Other times it begins with a handful of basil, a basket of tomatoes, or the simple pleasure of preserving the seasons.

For many years you've known me through handmade books, collage, paper, textiles, and the stories that unfold here in my studio.
What you may not know is that there is another place where I love to make things.
It's my kitchen.
Not because I consider myself a chef, but because I've come to realize that the same creative rhythm I experience in the studio continues there as well. The tools are different, yet the process feels remarkably familiar, choosing beautiful ingredients, working with the seasons, slowing down, paying attention, and creating something to share.
In many ways, it has become another room in the studio.
A Small Garden with a Big Purpose
Living in northern Idaho means our growing season is both generous and fleeting.
Over the years I've simplified my garden. With just the two of us at home, I no longer feel the need to grow everything. Instead, I've chosen to grow the things I truly love.
Each summer I look forward to baskets of raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, and blackberries. Fragrant basil fills the garden with its unmistakable scent, while tomatoes slowly ripen in the sun, becoming one of the season's greatest rewards.
For everything else, I happily wander through our local farmers' markets, where beautiful seasonal produce inspires whatever I'll make next.
I've discovered that a handful of carefully chosen ingredients brings me far more joy than an overflowing garden. It leaves room to savor the harvest, support local growers, and focus on the flavors that return to our table year after year.

More Than Recipes
The recipes you'll find here are not intended to become an endless cookbook.
Instead, they are a thoughtfully curated collection of favorites, the handful I return to season after season because they're simple, healthy, flavorful, and rooted in the ingredients I love most.
Some preserve the harvest for the colder months ahead. Others celebrate the abundance of summer while it's still here.
Like my handmade books, each recipe is refined over time, photographed with care, and thoughtfully documented before finding its place here. If it becomes part of this collection, it's because it has earned a permanent place in my own kitchen.
Another Room in the Studio
As I've worked on these recipes over the past several months, I've realized something unexpected.
The Studio Kitchen isn't separate from my creative practice.
It is my creative practice.
Whether I'm stitching a handmade book, arranging papers for a collage, roasting tomatoes into a rich sauce, or freezing basil at the height of summer, I'm drawn to the same things, craftsmanship, seasonality, thoughtful process, and the satisfaction that comes from making something by hand.
Those values have always shaped my work and creativity.
Now they're finding another expression.
I hope you'll feel as at home in the Studio Kitchen as you do in the rest of the studio.
Thank you for joining me for this next chapter.

What's Coming to the Studio Kitchen
Over the coming seasons I'll be sharing a thoughtfully curated collection of recipes inspired by the garden, our local farmers' markets, and the simple pleasure of making things by hand.
Rather than an endless cookbook, the Studio Kitchen will grow slowly, one favorite recipe, one pantry staple, and one seasonal story at a time.
This is where I'll preserve not only the harvest, but the recipes and stories that accompany it.
From the Studio
I've always believed that creativity isn't confined to a single room.
Sometimes it takes shape in handmade books, collage, and paper. Other times it begins in the garden, continues at the kitchen table, and ends with a recipe shared among family and friends.
Whether you've arrived here through my artwork, the Studio Kitchen, or simply a love of thoughtful making, I hope you'll find inspiration in creating something with your own hands.
Thank you for spending a little time with me today.
