2016 started out with the completion of Crush 5! I began this piece last year with a new color assignment. My assignment was a "less is more" approach. I selected a palette of neutrals both dark and light and added one bright accent color. High contrast is the theme with Crush 5. I wrote a post about this piece called "In the Pink" last July when I first started the fabric selection and thoughts on color.
This week I was notified that one of my Crush pieces was accepted into the juried exhibit, Interpretations: Celebrating 30 Years at the Visions Art Museum in San Diego, CA!
This was the entry that I mentioned in a previous post that I was working on. I submitted 3 pieces for consideration and Crush 2 made the cut!
This summer in the Pacific Northwest has been unseasonably warm! It is mid July and the number of days that it has been over 90 degrees is now in the double digits. One thing I love about the NW is the seasonality that we have including the mild temperatures in the summer months / normally. But this summer is anything but normal! Yes we do have a handful of warm days but nothing like we have experienced this summer.
