A new toy, a Cannon Selphy! What a fun name for a printer in this day and age of instant photographs and images. I heard about this unique printer last week at a SAQA conference.
I was intrigued about a printer that was no larger than 5" x7" and could sit on my desk top, not taking up a lot of room. This little printer was made to print all those images that we snap from our cell phones or iPads or upload on our computer.
The reason I thought this would be a good tool for my studio was for the instant evaluation of my work while I am composing. I take photos throughout the creation of my work to review. I often can see things in a photo that my eye cannot see in person. Don't ask me how that works but it is true. I rely on photos to tell me what is going on visually while I work.
I have been using this new device all week and I love it!
I removed the paper feed that fits in front of the printer for the photo. There is a tray that attaches to the front of the Selphy and it holds 4"x6" photo paper. You can print postcards, and photos.
The printer operates off of a wireless connection as well as an App on your phone and or tablet as well as computer software. You can load photos from your devices, photo card from you camera or images from your computer.
Shopping wisely for ink and paper is advised. You have to buy them as a unit. Paper and ink come together. You can find some pretty good deals on Amazon and buy enough ink and paper for 100 + photos for around $25.00.
I will no doubt include more images and studies from my Selphy in future posts to illustrate work in my studio.
But for now just wanted to share..... Love this new tool!
